Gutters and downspouts (gutter system) are a home’s best friend against rain and snow. Gutter system are an integral part of a roofing system since they channel water from the roof, keeping it away from the walls and windows of the home and the house foundation. If the gutter system malfunctions due to leakage or clogging from leaves and debris, the following can happen:
- Water can either be forced to pool on the roof especially during ice or snow storms causing damage to the roofing system over time and eventually leading to leaky roof.
- Clogged or leaking gutter system can cause excess water to flow over the gutter damaging the paint on the home, eroding the soil near the foundation or entering the basement to cause flooding
Gutters come in all shapes, colors, and prices so you can easily find a match for your style of house and budget. We offer the K-style gutter in both 5- and 6-inch widths.
It is important to clean your gutters on a regular basis, especially in the spring and the fall. Contact the professional at M&M Roofing for a free roof inspection and additional information.
Majority of homes in the United States use the K-style gutter. K-style gutters have a decorative shape, such as a curve or ogee, that mimics colonial style crown molding on one side and are flat on the other side. The flat side of the gutter can be nailed directly into the fascia board eliminating the need to install brackets to keep your gutter in place. See representative image below:
Aluminum rain gutters are relatively low maintenance and the amount of accessories available make it one of the easiest rain gutter systems to install. Aluminum is also very durable, doesn’t rust or peel and comes in a variety of colors.
We offer seamless K-style gutters. Seamless gutters offer the advantage over pre-cut gutters that you might purchase at your local hardware store. Seamless gutters are manufactured on site and fit the entire length of your roof whereas pre-cut gutters are joined at the seams with connectors and sealant and eventually leak as the connectors and sealer comes loose. Seamless K-style gutters have an advantage over pre-cut gutters in that they are not as prone to leaking. Water spilling to the ground from improperly sealed gutter seams has the potential to damage the paint on your home and flood your basement.
